What is Pattaya famous for at festival time?

Pattaya is famous for the fireworks over the bay, two of Thailand's big December music festivals on its doorstep and a Songkran that runs on for days with Wan Lai. It's also the base for Wonderfruit and Tomorrowland, both a short drive from the city.

At night the city's big clubs include World House on Third Road and Republic, off Walking Street. Licensed entertainment venues in Chonburi province can stay open until 4am.

When are the Pattaya fireworks?

The Pattaya International Fireworks Festival is on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November 2026, two nights of fireworks over Pattaya Bay, free from Pattaya Beach. The 2026 teams and show times come out closer to the date.

Where is Tomorrowland happening in Pattaya?

Tomorrowland Thailand is happening at Wisdom Valley in Khao Mai Kaeo, Bang Lamung, a short drive from Beach Road, from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 December 2026: the festival's first edition in Thailand, with Martin Garrix and Swedish House Mafia at the top of more than 100 artists. It's officially sold out.

When does Wonderfruit take over The Fields?

Wonderfruit 2026 is five days of music, art, food and wellness at The Fields at Siam Country Club, Thursday 3 to Monday 7 December, and it ends four days before Tomorrowland starts, so one Pattaya base covers both. It's the 11th edition, with more than 25,000 people a day.

Where do you see New Year's Eve in Pattaya?

New Year's Eve in Pattaya is on Central Pattaya Beach, where Pattaya Countdown turns the sand into a free three-night festival. New Year's Eve is Thursday 31 December 2026, a bank holiday.

At the end of 2025 the countdown looked like this. The 2026/27 programme isn't out yet and is expected in December (checked 7 Nov 2026; recheck mid-November):

• Nights: 29 to 31 December, with gates from 5pm, 6pm and 5:30pm.
• The show: concerts, a drone show and midnight fireworks.
• Road closures: Pattaya City closed the roads from 3pm to 2am on 29 and 30 December, and Beach Road down to Soi 10 on 31 December, with 13 official car parks.

How long is Songkran in Pattaya?

Songkran in Pattaya keeps going later than anywhere else: the holiday is Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 April 2027, then Wan Lai brings the water back after it, expected around Saturday 17 to Monday 19 April 2027.

In 2026, Wan Lai Naklua was on 18 April and Wan Lai Pattaya on 19 April, when Beach Road closed from noon to midnight and turned into one long water fight, with four stages.

What other festivals are near Pattaya?

Pattaya also has smaller festivals around the big ones, on the beach and at Legend Siam:

• Pattaya International Jazz Festival: free jazz on Pattaya Beach each November; the 2026 edition ran on 6 and 7 November.
• LEO FEST: a beer and music festival at Legend Siam, held on 7 and 8 November in 2026.
• UnKonscious: 28 to 31 January 2027 in Pattaya.
• Waterjet World Cup: the Jet Ski World Series has moved its 2026 King's Cup round to 13 to 17 January 2027, on Jomtien Beach.
• Pattaya Kite Festival: kites over Pattaya Beach, which ran from 25 February to 1 March in 2026; the 2027 dates aren't out yet.
• Pattaya Music Festival: free shows on the beach, usually on March weekends; Pattaya City hasn't announced the 2027 dates yet.
• Circuit Festival Asia: the organiser has announced 4 to 6 June 2027 in Pattaya, after its 19 to 21 June 2026 edition.
• Chonburi Buffalo Racing: the province's yearly buffalo race in Chonburi town, on the road to Bangkok, in October. Race day is in the next section.

When is the Chonburi buffalo racing?

Chonburi buffalo racing day in 2027 is expected on Thursday 14 October, the day before Ok Phansa, in front of Chonburi Provincial Hall. Race day always falls on the 14th waxing day of the 11th lunar month. In 2026 the 155th festival, called Wing Khwai, ran from 17 to 25 October, with race day on Sunday 25 October.

Race day starts with a parade of decorated ox carts and a monks' blessing for the buffaloes at Wat Yai Intharam. Then the buffaloes sprint about 100 metres down the track, class by class from the smallest up, with buffalo health and beauty contests on the side. Wing Khwai means "buffalo run", and it thanks the buffaloes for their year in the rice fields.

Around the races the grounds turn into a nine-day fair: food stalls, live music, traditional shows, a best-dressed buffalo contest and greasy-pole climbing. No tickets were listed in 2026.

Getting there from Pattaya: Chonburi town sits on the road between Pattaya and Bangkok, so race day is an easy day trip. A luxury van with a driver costs from ฿6,500 for 10 hours, for up to 4 guests, and waits while you watch.

Tip: come early for the parade and the blessing, stand by the track to see each heat end to end, and be back on the beach by evening. The next day is Ok Phansa, a Buddhist holy day, when shops stop selling alcohol. Plan it with Tanner.

How do you get to Pattaya for a festival?

Pattaya is about 2 hours by road from Suvarnabhumi Airport on Motorway 7. There's no flight, so the road is the fastest way.

Roong Reuang's blue buses run hourly from Ekkamai, 5am to 10pm, for ฿144, and from Mo Chit 2, 5am to 6pm, for ฿155; from Suvarnabhumi Airport there are 7 departures a day, for ฿135 (fares seen 7 Nov 2026). For a group, a party van from Bangkok costs ฿3,500 each way, for up to 10.
