When are the 2027 long weekends?
The long weekends in Thailand in 2027 are the easiest dates for a short festival trip, because a holiday lands next to the weekend.
- Fri 1 to Sun 3 January: New Year's Day.
- Sat 20 to Mon 22 February: Makha Bucha, with the Full Moon Party on the Monday.
- Sat 1 to Tue 4 May: Labour Day and Coronation Day, four days and the best of the year.
- Sat 17 to Mon 19 July: Asalha Bucha and Khao Phansa, the Ubon candle weekend.
- Sat 23 to Mon 25 October: Chulalongkorn Day, a week after Ok Phansa.
- Sat 4 to Mon 6 December, then Fri 10 to Sun 12 December: Father's Day and Constitution Day.
Songkran itself runs Tuesday to Thursday, so take Monday 12 and Friday 16 April off and you get nine days.
When are the Full Moon Parties in 2027?
The Full Moon Party runs every month on Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan, and moves a day when the full moon falls on a major Buddhist day. Here are the 2027 dates.
- 22 January, 22 February, 22 March and 21 April.
- 21 May, 19 June, 20 July and 17 August.
- 15 September, 16 October, 13 November and 13 December.
Read Full Moon Party.
Why do Thai festival dates change every year?
Thai festival dates change every year because most of them follow the lunar calendar. The Buddhist holy days, Loy Krathong, Yi Peng and Ok Phansa all fall on a full moon, and Chinese New Year and the Phuket Vegetarian Festival follow the Chinese lunar calendar. Songkran is the exception: it stays on 13 to 15 April.
What's still on in 2026?
There's still plenty left in 2026 before the 2027 calendar starts. Loy Krathong is Tuesday 24 November 2026, with Yi Peng in Chiang Mai from 23 to 25 November and the Pattaya fireworks on 27 and 28 November.
December 2026 brings Wonderfruit (3 to 7 December), Tomorrowland Thailand (11 to 13 December, sold out), the Big Mountain Music Festival (12 to 13 December) and EDC Thailand (18 to 20 December). New Year's Eve is Thursday 31 December 2026. Read The December festival weekend.
How do you plan a trip around the calendar?
Plan a trip around the festival calendar by picking the festival first, then booking your base and your cars around its dates. The big weeks fill fast: Songkran, Loy Krathong and the December music festivals.
- Pick the dates: use the table above, and check the month page for the details.
- Book your base: a private pool villa from ฿18,500 a day, or a Pattaya pool villa from ฿12,500 a day.
- Land fast: airport fast track at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang, ฿2,400 a person: a greeter meets you at the gate and walks you through the fast immigration lane.
- Move together: a luxury van with a driver from ฿6,500 for 10 hours, for up to 4 guests.
