When is New Year's Eve in Phuket?

Phuket New Year's Eve 2026 falls on Thursday 31 December, and Friday 1 January 2027 is a bank holiday too. The Phuket countdown events for 2026/27 aren't announced yet, so the table shows last year's pattern as expected. Checked 7 Nov 2026; recheck early December.

What is the Patong countdown on Patong Beach?

Patong is the big one: a stage on the sand in front of Bangla Road, international DJs, and fireworks over the sea at midnight. The Patong countdown is Phuket's big New Year's Eve party.

Local artists and hotel bands play live between the DJ sets, and the night builds to the midnight fireworks over Patong Bay. Last New Year, Thaweewong Road (the beach road), the Sea Pearl junction and Ruamjai Road closed to cars from 10:30pm to 1am, and fireworks and sky lanterns from the crowd weren't allowed, so walk in.

Arrive before 10:30pm, when the beach road closed to cars last year, wear light clothes and sandals you can walk the sand in, and keep your passport on you for the clubs after midnight.

Where can you see Phuket New Year fireworks?

You can see Phuket New Year fireworks over the sea at Patong and over Kamala Bay, both at midnight on 31 December. The Patong countdown fireworks go up over the water in front of Bangla Road.

The best seat is on the water, on your own motor yacht. Tanner quotes boats to your plan. The night runs like this:

• About 7pm, 31 December: leave Chalong on your own yacht.
• Midnight: anchor off Patong for the fireworks over the bay.
• After 1am, 1 January: back at the pier, with your driver waiting.

What is New Year's Eve at Kamala Beach like?

New Year's Eve at Kamala Beach is the calmer Phuket countdown. Last year Kamala Bay set off 2,000 fireworks over the Andaman Sea at midnight.

The beach had sand sculptures and light art along the sand, with soft music for families, couples and groups of friends. Ask Tanner for a villa near Kamala.

Where do you party after midnight in Phuket?

After midnight in Phuket, the party moves to Patong's clubs, a short walk from the beach.

You must be 20 to drink, and clubs check ID, so bring your passport.

Can you do EDC and New Year in one trip?

How do you get to Phuket for New Year's Eve?

Fly. Bangkok to Phuket is a short flight, and the drive from the airport down to Patong is slower in the late-afternoon traffic, so land before the afternoon rush. Every route is in Bangkok to Phuket.

The bus from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal runs overnight, so flying is much quicker. Book your flights early for the New Year week. Ask Tanner and a car meets you at arrivals.
